Summary: The dominant theme is the one of Jesus as the king of the Jews, and their rejection of him. His identification as the king is in his own admission, Pilate’s description, the ironic mocking of the soldiers and his enemies (they mock with the truth, and salvation comes through his death, not his release) and the Centurion witness to his death.
